Indonesia’s Market Conditions & Opportunities

  • Indonesia is ranked 11th in terms of global gas production with proven reserves of 96 trillion cubic feet (TCF) in 2018. On a reserve basis, Indonesia ranks 13th in the world and the second in the Asia-Pacific region (following China). Indonesia relevance in seaborne Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) is more critical.
  • Indonesia has a diversity of geological basins that continue to offer sizeable potential for oil and gas exploitation.
  • About 75% of exploration and production is located in Western Indonesia. The four oil producing regions are Sumatra, the Java Sea, East Kalimantan and Natuna. The three main gas-producing regions are East Kalimantan, South Sumatra and Natuna.
  • Indonesia’s gas production represents 60% of total oil and gas production in the count
